What Must I Do To Be Saved?

What is true Christianity?

There are many religions and denominations claiming to represent Christianity. How can one know what true Christianity is all about? The answer to that is found in the Bible. The Bible is our only sure source of what is true about Jesus the Christ.

Was Jesus just a great moral teacher? Was He a fraud and a liar able to fool thousands? Or was He God as He claimed? What does the Bible teach concerning Jesus? The person of Jesus is all about good news. However, there is bad news before the good news.

Broken Relationship between God and man.

The Bible teaches that God is Creator and is over all His creation. Also, God is perfectly righteous and holy. He always does what is right.

On the other hand, the Bible teaches that man is a rebel against God. Mankind by nature suppresses the truth about God. Man knows what is right and wrong. For example, in every culture that ever existed, it is wrong to murder. It is wrong to take another man’s wife. Stealing is considered immoral.

How did all these isolated cultures come to the same conclusion? God gave everyone a conscience that informs each one what is right and wrong in general. When man chooses to do wrong, the Bible calls this sin. It is rebellion against God.

Man Deserves Judgment

God is perfectly just. Because He is perfectly just, He must punish sin. A corrupt judge allows murderers, rapists, and thieves to go unpunished. Not so with God. God is a just Judge and will not let the guilty off the hook.

The Bible teaches that everyone is appointed to die. Physical death is part of the punishment for sin. After death, every person must stand before God and be judged for his rebellion. Every person stands condemned and should go to eternal punishment called hell, a place of suffering and sorrow that lasts forever.

The Good News

Here is where the good news comes in. God desired to demonstrate His love and grace, so He became a man. That is who Jesus is; He is both God and man. He proved He is God by performing undeniable miracles. Even His enemies could not deny His miracles. Their only response was that Satan enabled Jesus to perform miracles.

Jesus lived a perfect life as a man so that He did not deserve judgment. He allowed Himself to be judged for sin that He did not commit. That is the whole point of Him dying on the cross. He is a substitute for sinful man. While dying on the cross, God placed upon Him the sin of the world and poured out wrath upon Him.

God’s wrath, which justice demanded for sin, was satisfied in the death of Christ the savior of the world. But that is not all….

Jesus Rose Again

Jesus satisfied the penalty for sin so death could no longer hold Him. Therefore, Jesus rose from the dead. After rising from the dead, He appeared to His followers and gave them the command to go and speak the good news to the world.

He ascended into heaven and promised that He would come again.

Now it comes to you

This tract was written to introduce you to the good news. God calls every person to turn from his or her sinfulness and trust in what Jesus did on the cross. You must understand that you cannot be good enough to go to heaven. God must and will judge you when you die. You need a substitute and a Savior. Jesus is the only Savior offered to save mankind.

If you repent and believe in the good news of Jesus Christ, you will be saved from eternal judgment; you will be born again into a newness of life here and now; and God promises an inheritance in heaven for those who truly trust in Jesus.
